Lubrication precautions for carton openers

Broadly speaking, carton erectors and carton sealing machines belong to the same product category, but their structures are quite different, with the chain structure being the most obvious difference. Conventional carton sealing machines do not have a chain, while carton erectors do, located in the hopper area. Since a chain is present, lubrication becomes an issue. What are the precautions for chain lubrication in carton erectors?

It should have good oxidation stability, preventing accelerated oxidation and oxide formation during operation upon contact with air.

The chain lubricant should be selected for low-power transmissions, where sealing is not tight, and speeds are less than 200 m/min.

The chain lubrication method can be selected according to the sprocket diameter and speed, as shown in Figure 3-110.

Good penetration ability is required, meaning it can penetrate into the friction points of each chain link to form a boundary film, reducing wear.

The chain requires lubrication everywhere, but there are differences for low-speed and high-speed applications. Low-speed applications primarily use No. 30 machine oil.
